After a rubbish Christmas and New Year suffering from an awful chest infection it was lovely to see in the New Year with the long awaited article in Country Living. Long awaited as we did the photo shoot way back last spring and I can remember having to wear lots of layers and trying to look cold on one of the hottest spring days we had had! We are all so pleased with the article, its quite a cosy one isn't it? We had a lovely day with lots of laughter with good friends and the photographer was a real sweety. My studio looks great and I am hoping it will lure people in to come and try one of my courses, we shall see.
The photographer sent me some photos he took and I know he will not mind me showing you the ones he took of Midge in my arms and Boris looking at him through the window. Thank you Brent for letting me have them.
So now on into 2011 with lots to do, as usual I am sure that January and February will disappear in a jiffy, why is that? I am longing to get back painting now I am feeling better and have been sketching lots of new ideas, then there is also the Country Living Fair where Christine is having a stand and has very kindly offered to have some of my work so I have ideas for that too, lets hope there are enough hours in the day to get it all done! A very Happy New Year to all of you my blogging friends. It is a strange world this blogland where we forge bonds and friendships and peep into the lives of others we are never likely to meet. Some I have been lucky enough to meet and are now firm friends. Heres to many more friendships for us all and thank you for your support over the last year.
ohhh wowww!!!! how wonderful!!!! yes! your studio looks a real treat. hope you get lots of lovely creative people flooding in for courses now...if i could drive and wasnt tied up with a little one id love to go...i wish you a wonderful sucess! lovely images of your sweet pets too, shame you had such a dreadful chest over xmas, hope you enjoy the new year and all your new art to create ;0)x
I had forgotten about the photo shoot until I opened my new CL - it took me a few seconds to realise who it was about despite the pictures seeming strangley familiar!!
I love the set up you have with your friends - would love to be able to do something like that.
It was a lovely feature in Country Living Magazine. I had forgotten reading on you blog about the photo shoot last year. Yes your studio looks wonderful and a lovely way to spend some time with some amazing friends. Best wishes for a fantastic New Year.
Love from Dorset (but wishing she was in Cornwall)

Hello Jane! I saw the Country Living article and thought 'I recognise those paintings on the wall'!!! Your studio looks lovely and if I lived nearer I would definitely come on one of your courses!
I read the article and then posted on Gertie's blog..a brilliant feature! I did a similar thing last year when I started, 'Tea Tiffin and Tat!' A few of us met once a month just to show and tell!! It's just lovely to get together with like minded people! Happy 2011! ;-)x
Looks lovely, just got a subscription to Country Living from my good hubby for Xmas, look forward to reading about your doings! Hope your infection allowed you a little Christmas cheer :)
It was a lovely article and through that I have found your lovely blog, I am sure it will bring in alot of interest to your courses. Happy New Year to you. Jillx
Jane, I am SO excited for you girls! I went to our book store yesterday to buy a copy and they had not receieved it yet. BUT I will go back to get me one when they arrive!! Your study is amazing! I could spend hours in there creating. LOVE the Union Jack buntings!! And your art work....**swooning**. So adorable! And you know that I MUST comment on your scootie piece and those tins! Just fabulous!!!!
Congratulations Jane...I haven't bought a CL mag for well over a year (or two?) - various reasons, but made an exception today, as I knew you girls would be inside! I'm looking forward to settling down in a minute and to read it in full. Happy New Year, Niki
It's brilliant Jane, I was so excited when my copy arrived and I saw you! The studio looks lovely, makes me want to sign up right away! It is such a trcky commute from Kent I shall have to think creatively! The cakes, the cakes, yum!!!!!
Hello Beach combing Magpie. We live on the Roseland and the cat is a boy Maine Coone, we have a little girl too, but I have to admit that Boris is my baby and I adore him! Jane
Just had my Feb copy of Country Living delivered by the postie and had to put the magazine down after reading your article to come and find your blog.
I love your studio and the beautiful, gorgeous and delicate things that you produce. It's a shame I am so far away in Yorkshire, maybe will have to plan a holiday soon ....
Finally received my copy of CL - great article & loved the photos of you all trying to look cold in the sunshine! Thanks for the mention of the V&H - very kind!
Hi Jane, Is that your studio? It looks like such an inspiring place to work with all that light! I'm glad to hear your chest infection has gone, it hangs around for ages doesn't it? Happy new year! xx
Back again to say that I've read - and enjoyed - the article in Country Living.
Good luck to the four of you in running The Sea Garden as a co-operative - having been a member of Art Space Gallery co-op for over 10 years now, I can assure you that there are many benefits to be gained. Lesley
Lovely pics and article, I was suprised that I have been following your blog for a while and may even have seen you at Honiton? I also recognised one of yourr friends from the V&H fair - what a small world! T X ps Midge is beautiful.
Have been saving my copy of Country Living for a quiet moment with hot chocolate and nobody in the house. Its a lovely article and I am a great believer in afternoon tea with pretty china and vintage linen. Looking forward to our visit to Cornwall later in the year as I love The Sea Garden and might even manage to attend one of your courses. Karen X
Hi Jane, we are heading over to the Helford river, Port Navas is the nearest place. We shall be having a day or two over on the Roseland, as always. Hoping for lunch at the Tresanton and definately a trip to Porthscatho, I must check the opening times of the Sea Garden as I always manage to come on the wrong day!!! I want to try and get to Caerhays, I am always saying I want to go at this time of year, again must check if they are open! Then stopping off to see Magpie in Devon on the way home!!!
As for my alarming post header, tee hee I shall definately be back before next January, tee hee.
Haver you painted you cow and horse together? I should like to see that!
Oh my gosh, I love your work! I found you by just browsing around blogger. Also please remember, every time someone follows my blog, an angel earns its wings.
Hello Jane, I saw you in Country Living and was wondering if the polka dot jack russell pic on the wall (main photo) is one that you sell? My dog looks like an elderly relative of Midge. I know it's a bit niche but if you have any jack russelly arts and crafts I'd love to hear from you. Gail x
Hello Fluffy, hope you read this. The picture of Midge on the wall was a gift from a friend who made it for me, if she is still doing them I could ask her to get in touch with you? Let me know, Jane
I read this article this morning – we get it so late here in South Africa. I still thought everyone looked like they were freezing and I was wondering how on earth you could work with all those layers on! I was peering at the fingerless gloves and thinking that those are what I need for when it gets cold here! I love your studio - beautiful building, great light with lots of lovely detail :)
I am a full time artist living in the wonderful county of Cornwall. I love vintage almost anything: from fabric to toys to china to books. I am constantly influenced by my collective tat that makes my 'nest' around me and just living here among the many galleries and artists is a real delight to me. I hope you enjoy sharing a little bit of my world in the ramblings on this blog, I look forward to your comments and friendship.
